November for Ski Beyond signals the start of our winter, its the exciting time when we get to put on our skis again and tune into training & coaching for the winter. The great feeling of getting back on the snow and feeling strong for the season to come.
We are here with JJCTraining – which is a Race training camp primarily focused on delivering training for Ski Instructors looking to pass their European Speed Test (a.k.a Eurotest) as well as Technical training for instructors working towards their BASI Level 3 & 4 Exams. Ricey is here as one of their top team of coaches, who helps instructors reach their potential and prepare as best they can for the Eurotest. He is also the resident physcological coach, taking one to one sessions with the trainees to get them in the best possible place to achieve success in what they are doing.
The whole program is geared to cover all bases and really shows the importance of the holistic approach in all levels of skiing. The road of a ski instructor includes so much more than being a good skier and here is the place to make sure you on the right track to progress – with fitness sessions, psychological sessions, equipment & technical tutorials along with ski tuning, it really gets you in the best place to succeed. Helena is also offering up French Lessons for those who are keen to improve their language skills.
As with any pre season glacier training, the weather is always an unknown factor, we have had a few storms that have enforced a few closed days where the focus has been on fitness, equipment & technical terminology, however for us there is always positives in any situation, Ricey has been able to run more psychological sessions allowing people to really get their head around their focus and understand the importance of a strong mind, and training it to assist you in what you want to achieve. For me, it is the opportunity to build on my fitness program from the summer and get my core in as strong a position as possible for the upcoming season and for my performance skiing.
We are looking forward to the season, there is snow in Avoriaz already and winter has definitely arrived. Bookings for Ski Beyond are coming in thick and fast, we are already fully booked in some of the peak weeks already so please do drop us a line if you are looking for some ski lessons this season.
